Continuous filament wound GRP Pipes
|
These pipes produced by Superlit are manufactured by menas of continuous filament wound method.
Specifications of the continuous filament wounded
The Pipes and Fittings are designed for underground and above ground piping systems to transport sewage, seawater, aggressive chemicals, and potable water under pressure and gravity flow. The pipes and fittings are manufactured under strict quality standards and are remarkable for their great strength, outstanding chemical resistance and low weight.
The standard size varies from diameters of 300 mm up to 3400 mm.
Pipes and fittings are classified according to nominal pressure. Standard pressure classes are 1, 4 and 6 bar. Intermediate or higher pressure classes are considered on request or depending on the design conditions.
Pipes are also classified according to specific pipe stiffness. Standard stiffness classes are 1250, 2500, 5000 and 10000 Pa. Intermediate or higher stiffness classes are available on request or depending on the design conditions.
Production process
The main machine used in the production is composed of a continuous steel band carried by beams that form a cylindrical mandrel. As the mandrel moves filling material, sand, glass, fiber, resin and surface materials are measured and applied in exact quantities. The specific modules ensure integrated process control based on pre-programmed instructions.
First the basic information such as diameter, rigidity and pressure class are needed to be entered to the computer. Then the PC calculates all the machine settings. Process parameters and pipe thickness are continuously monitored and recorded and reports are issued. Laminate curing develops based on the temperature, along the mandrell.
Laminate is provided to be heated directly with the heating elements. The laminate temperature is measured at different points in the curing zone. Heat distribution is monitored graphically through the computer control. Dual resin delivery is provided through two different lines, it is possible to apply a special resin to the inner layer of the pipe in highly corrosive applications and normal resin to the body and the external parts. The cutting unit that is in harmony with the pipe which has axial and radial movement, ensures the clean and perpendicular cut of the glass reinforced pipe.
Upon entering the pipe length into the control system, cutting operation is realized automatically. Pipes can be cut at any length desired from 0.3 m up to 15 m. The pipes cut are received by the lifting tables that are specially designed, and afterwards, they pass to the chamfer breaking and calibration unit, then, to the hydrostatic testing unit.
